SFO GROUND TRANSPORTATION UNIT
>

The Ground Transportation Unit Relocation is an enabling project for the Terminal 1 expansion at SFO. It includes the decommissioning of the current GTU complex in the Airport’s South Field, and its relocation to a new facility at Plot 700 in the North Field. The project includes: design of a master plan for Plot 700; design and construction of a temporary facility (due to the schedule of the Terminal 1 expansion); design and construction of a Fuel Station and Vehicle Wash, serving City and County of San Francisco employees; and finally, the design construction of the new GTU and Radio Shop facility.

The GTU consists of approximately 25-30 employees, who serve commercial vehicle drivers operating at SFO and perform safety inspections on their vehicles. SFO’s Radio Shop consists of five technicians who repair and maintain various types of SFO radio and communications components. At one story and 14,000 square feet, the new facility provides comfortable and day-lit work spaces and inspection shops, as well as shared meeting rooms, break room, locker and shower facilities, and outdoor space.
