Sacramento Court consists of four new townhouses set around an entry courtyard and built over an existing 40-car garage. Visitors enter from the street via an exterior stair that leads to a central courtyard, providing access to each of the four units. The facade is composed of two bays of dark wood windows framed by warm brick. To reinforce the continuity between exterior and interior, the courtyard’s concrete paving continues into the entry of each residence, and its wood window frames reappear within the interior as translucent dividers between kitchens, dining rooms, and halls. In addition to building the new townhouses, our work included seismic upgrades to the existing two-level masonry garage below.
